This series of photos was taken on March 15th shortly after sun up.
The "Take It!" came from my having the day off and the desire to catch this monument with what I thought would be a surrounding of many flowers in full bloom. Much to my initial disappointment I was early for the flowers for they were tulips which had then about another week before coming into bloom.
The After Take: Like many things I am finding in life, what may initially be not what you wanted or expected, there is often a chance to find something else that equals or even surpasses what you originally were looking for. This was a magnificent example of this kind of great fortune.
I have started with what I was looking for, complete with its early disappointment and referring you to the many shots offered below. The photographs for the most part speak for themselves. I hope you enjoy this part of what were a few hours of image gathering, many of which will be displayed as time moves forward.
Thanks for joining us for the current photo presentation. You are cordially invited to return Friday, May 18th for a new
picture that we hope you will enjoy.

I really really need to get to DC. I love memorials and such. I envy you for getting to see this stuff daily.

Its unfortunate that we need to have these memorials. They are truly beautiful but the things they remind us of are often very sad.

This beautiful memorial is dedicated to those that lost their lives as merchant marines.
