This set of photos was taken on May 9, 2013 at 1:07am.
The location was from the room I was assigned on the bay side of the 38th floor in the San Francisco Hilton at Union Square.
The "Take It!" came at this early time of the morning when it was still dark and the sky had cleared of fog. The vista was even more dazzling than it was when I had last seen it from this vantage
point a number of years ago. I once worked at this hotel and had the pleasure of helping in some of the planning for this tower addition to the original structure. I watched it be constructed and
would often go up on the construction elevator to watch it progress as the steel was being put into place, floor by floor. I used to take enormous pleasure in telling the workers that they were
building the hotel that I was going to have the pleasure of representing for many years into the future. I sometimes would thank them for doing their part in the building of a dream. They all
liked that.
The After Take: To those that I showed this to, all were quite awe stricken by it (as was I). Not that many of us are taking rooms at a hotel that is a high rise in a big city that has this sort
of an offering. That the room had a balcony at this level made the taking of the pictures that much more exciting.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to revisit what was once a dream. That it is a part of a city that is ever evolving in a positive way, makes that dream even that much more rich.
There have been a number of songs written about San Francisco, all of which portray some reason for making a visit. It is truly a place that does not dissapoint. Try to make a visit
there, and if you do, stay in a high rise hotel that has a view. You will never forget it.
Thanks for taking a moment to share what has been and still is one of my favorite views.
Wishing you my very best,
Bruce
