One of those Unanswerables

The location was in Washington DC,  in the City Center District.

The "Take It!" came from having looked at this bit of randomness for many years and unconsciously trying to make rhyme or reason for it existing.

It is the matter of the chalky discoloring of some bricks and not others in a stretch of walk way which is out doors.  The sharp edges to the discoloring along with it being one of those all or nothing on a brick by brick basis - is fascinating to me.  Some day I will ask an expert for an answer - and when I do get an answer - I will share it with you.

Perhaps I will get lucky and one of our great viewers will have the answer to what is going on and let us know.

I have truly hit the age of " the more I know - the more I realize I know very little ".

Here is hoping everyone is getting vaccinated - It seems to be making a huge difference for the better.

All my best

Bruce

I have the answer! Somebody with perfectly rectangular feet stepped in white paint before walking on the bricks.

I spent way too long looking at this trying to find some sort of design.

Maybe the bricks were prepainted white for a different project then they ran out of bricks for the sidewalk and decided to use the white bricks.

The collection of everyone's thoughts on this mystery - has us all much better informed with such great answers - lol.

I will ask a brick mason for an answer and hopefully can get one that we can make some sense out of.

In the meantime - thanks to all for the candor and creativity.

    All my very best,

    Bruce
