These photos were taken on August 21, 2021 at 7:20 AM.
The Location was in the City Center Section of Washington DC.
The "Take It!" Moment came as I stepped out of my car in front of one of my scheduled stops I heard great trumpet led music coming from the opposite end of the block. Hearing what I thought
might be a full set of players - I quickly made my way to find the trumpet player as a solo with a blending in with a recorded piano with a drum in the background. The trumpet player made
it all come together so well that I was pleasantly surprised.
When he finished the selection and I had dropped a few dollars into his collection receptacle we spoke for a few moments. I complemented him on his rendition of " Over the Rainbow " for
which he thanked me. I asked about the accompaniment of the piano and drum and was told that he has friends who will record what ever he wants to have his music come out the way he wants
it. I asked him to pass along my complements to them as well. He readily agreed to let them know.
The entire encounter was most pleasant and ended with his granting me permission to take his picture.
Here is hoping where ever you are there is a place where there are street musicians playing to enliven the atmosphere.
Best regards,
Bruce
PS: As I was walking away someone else came up and put some paper currency into his big receptacle.

I always chip in a couple bucks for street performers too, and this is going to a great cause!

Good thing he's good at it. There is no worse sound on earth than a terrible trumpet player, maybe a terrible bagpipe player.

I love reading feel good stories like this. Looking at the man have the courage to go out into public and play his music so he can further his dreams and goals just makes me feel warm. I have a suggestion. Maybe do a quick interview with the man. It would be so great to learn where he wants to go to school, and what he wants to do with his education, or his history with the instrument. Stuff like that is so fun to read in stories like these.

Thank you, to everyone for your comments. I too admire anyone that gets out there and places themselves with their talent in front of the public in the quest for income. A big part of the amount they earn is in how much talent they actually have. When it is music that is being presented - sour notes - bring little if any reward. This fellow had his stuff together.
I hope perchance, to see him again.
Best regards,
Bruce
