Tribute to a Tree

1/03/23

This photo was taken on December 17, 2022 at 1:26 PM.

The location was in the City Center District of Washington DC.

The "Take It!" came after spending way to much time waiting for a winter snow or freeze to happen to use as our theme photo for this season. It has not yet happened due to warmer weather. So, as we sometimes do when we are at a loss - turned to a long time friend for help - and in this instance that friend just happens to be a very old tree that is in a location where I pass by it on a very regular basis - while doing my part time job. I see it at all times of year - and at this time - I picked an overcast day - where its leaves had been shed - and it stands fully revealing all of its weather shaped inter structure of branches and shape.

While many have passing admiration for trees - I find myself being quite taken with all they do for us as they silently go about their lives. Year after year this tree provides shade for a mini park while being a catcher of air borne carbon, and last but not least - providing us with our needed oxygen so essential to life.

While I am not aware of this tree having formal name - I think it would be happy enough to be called "Friend."

Wishing everyone our very best for this new year,

Bruce and Taylor

Thank you to everyone for your observations. It is great to read and absorb the messages each of you place with the site. So many different take away's from a single subject is part of what makes this venture ever so worthwhile.
We will continue to do our best to find subjects that keep away the crickets - lol

Happy wishes for the week for all - Bruce

I don't think I have ever read about what trees and plants do for us quite so eloquently.

It looks like a few birds call it home.

I don't know whether to congratulate or offer condolences for avoiding the snow thus far.
