These photographs were taken on January 21, 2023 at 1:27 AM.
The location was in front of a very busy hotel near the convention center in Washington DC.
The "Take It!" came as I was walking on my way to enter this very busy hotel and subconsciously spotted something amiss with a potted plant in front of the property. The oddity came in the form of something out of place with this potted plant -which was fully covered in small green leaves even though it was in the middle of winter.
What was just not right - was a larger than usual brown leaf that was located on one side of the plant - almost looking as if it had been placed there like one would affix an ornament on a Christmas Tree. In no way - was this a natural state of affairs' for this plant. It had an odd sort of coolness about it - thus I left it alone and went about my business after taking these photos.
Later that day - I read the morning newspaper - and took note of the short article stating that the wind factor of the previous day had set a record for velocity. I reasoned that this - was the answer to the - why - of the placement of the leaf.
This was another of the photos I ran by my great unofficial team to review. They all liked the proposed logic of why the leaf was there - and further called my attention to how good the condition of the leaf was - along with the unusual color contrast the leaf had with it unexpected host - the bush. Everyone seemed to like putting reason to what was clearly random.
Thanks goes out to those great people on my unofficial team for their candor and always ability to join in on - the creativity sometimes called for with my photos.
Wishing everyone my very best,
Bruce

I thought it was a piece of trash at first glance, like a paper bag.

The closeup picture almost looks like a wreath.

This would make a good children’s story, like the little engine that could. The tree that wanted leaves!
