A Family Tree

This photo was taken in the early afternoon on January 7,  2012

The location was near the Pentagon in Virginia

The "Take It!" came from having passed this tree for almost a year and never having noticed the huge and almost perfect split up the branches from the trunk.  I think the potential comparisons to a family sadly can be many.  The splendor comes from the way it is held together (again the family comparison is available) by its roots.  Time will tell us if this will survive or if it will be deemed as unsafe and removed.

The After Take:  The photo was taken early enough on Saturday that I was able to share it with several people.  Many were like me, searching to see if there might be recoginzable shapes or forms that may be seen in the split sections.  I was unable to see any, perhaps you can.  Others wondered what it was that caused the split as did I.

It is my  hope this once strong tree will be able to grow itself back together and continue to bring great shade as it has for many years.

Thanks for joining me in the viewing and contemplation of this act of nature.
